Hi Board Readers; My fall project is to get my M-15 wired, batteried, chargered, switch paneled, and lighted before the big white gets to Michigan. So, this board topic is well timed and of great interest to me! Thanks! Oh, yeah... and I will add a permanent boarding ladder too. I'm favoring the Windline TT-3X, but hope to see one before committing. Most of what I've learned about M-15 outfitting came from this board archives, and some from the Trailersailor archives. And naturally some thanks to Google, SCA & GOB mags and Don Casey too! So, Chapmans, West, Boater's World and the Coasties sites tells me that there are lots of choices, and lots of ways to misinterpret the navigation lighting rules without plenty of study. I'm looking for just the right masthead all-round light following the less than seven meter powering exception of one masthead all-around and standard red/green cabin top combo that's already on my boat, though the 12 meter lighting might improve your chances of being seen and tracked. That's just seems like too many fixtures to hang all over my boat's little mast and stern for what little night sailing I might do. I'm intending to use the same light for night powering and anchoring. No way I'm bunking down on board at anchor without a light on top! I don't plan on much night sailing, so for that the flashlight on the sail seems approved if perhaps unwise. Mr. Coleman has a little l.e.d. lantern that might work well in the cockpit too. The Davis Mega-Masthead looks pretty good. They make a permanent mount model #3310, but I've not found it's size measurements. Also that made-in-Fiji l.e.d. Owl might work on its own, though they show it mounted inside a standard fixture. Small is beautiful! So, I'm getting the bits together and so far and have purchased a U-1 agm, Vector 1087 smart charger, fused 3-switch panel with 12v outlet and battery tester. Thanks for all the past postings on these topics! I'll be hoping to find a small and cheap l.e.d. ( I realize that's probably mutually exclusive in the marine supply world) light, and might experiment with the $20 l.e.d. light bulb replacement I see in the catalogs.
