My thinking about a new tow vehicle for the 17 are gradually changing as the price of gas goes up dollar by dollar; kind of makes the Subaru look even better. I don't know if you indicated what kind of mileage you get with and without the boat in tow, but if it has to suffice as an all-around car, it is starting to matter. The 2009 turbo model has 224 hp, but it should not be much different from yours, judging by EPA ratings. The retrofit brake systems for the Pacific trailer are still in the mid $600 range, so they are worth the money, as you have pointed out. I also wondered whether you use the "factory" Class I hitch with the 1.5" receiver, or if you managed to find a class III with the 2" receiver. As always, thanks for your comments.
