Hi Joe,
I adjusted my mast rake on my '75 M-17 to 12" back from the step. Jerry
M. advised that if you hang a halyard as a plumb bob it should hang 12"
back from the step. I have had it this way all season with certainly no
ill effects. The standing rigging previously had the mast straight up
which notable Montgomery sailors such as Doug Kelch had advised was too
far forward.
Rake away!
