At one time I made a 5'8", a 6'8", a 7'11", a 9, etc. The 5-8 was a
terrible sailboat but the 6-8 wasn't bad. The 6-8 would actually plane with
a 4hp motor (so will a ten) and really skip from wave top to wave top Of
course I never said that- the Coast Guard would kill me. Talked to a guy
who put a ten hp motor on one, claimed it would do 20!

I also took a 6-8 down the lower American River, rowing it stern first. My
brittany, who was ready for anything, sat in the stern seat and when we hit
a big haystack he got pretty wet, and when he saw the second one coming he
jumped right in my lap! Good memories.
