Things get even worse with SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP 3 (which is the latest available version!): they still ship Perl 5.10.0: https://www.suse.com/LinuxPackages/packageRouter.jsp?product=server&version=11&service_pack=sp3&architecture=x86_64&package_name=perl Since we also had some trouble with the equally out-dated OpenSSL package we simply switched to another distribution instead of trying Perlbrew or plenv. -Heiko
