Al,

It's pretty obvious you're one of those people who always wants to have the last word -- that's going to be a bit of a problem here as there are other people on this list with the same attitude. You can get into an immoveable object meets irresistible force kind of vicious cycle. Of course, what usually ends up happening in such a case is that the rest of the people start blocking one (or both) of the sender's email addresses and the parties involved end up in a kind of self-imposed isolation.

The point of the guideline which says "Personal attacks of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes name-calling, innuendo, insults or gossip" is to prevent the kind of flame war that you've been involved in. The thing is, I have a good memory and so do most on this list, so I know who was doing 90% of the flaming. Also, we have the archives at

... so we can go back and check to see who said what. As far as I can tell, the people who have posted negative comments about you *originally* did not break any of the rules. They did not engage in name-calling or innuendo, they stated the facts of their transaction problem. Such things can only be considered "innuendo, insults or gossip" if they are not true. The general conclusion of this list is that most, if not all, of what these dissatisfied buyers had to say about their transactions with you seemed to be true. You don't want to accept that. You didn't then and you won't now. No one on this list has been able to convince you that you were wrong, or made a mistake, about anything so far. Originally, you started firing back on these original posts in a very combative way, insulting not only the people who complained about the way you do business, but anyone of this list who seemed to agree with them or offer an opinion on what they were reporting. When I mentioned this was a list that contained "professionals and long-time experienced collectors" you chose to mock that idea in an insulting fashion. Now, lately you've calmed down quite a bid and reigned in your language and stopped using ALL CAPS so much of the time. That's great, keep it up.

The rule is intended to prevent abusive posts that are rarely productive or informative and only serve to pollute the list environment.

The rule does not prevent people from complaining about valid problems they are having with people, so long as they include the facts  -- we encourage that here. This list is a source of  important information to all of the collectors on it and if either a buyer OR a seller has a problem they have not been able to resolve no matter what they try, then most of the people on this list appreciate being informed so they don't find themselves in a similar situation.

I wanted to post this. I had asked Scott publically why he had not sent emails out to others that did this.I thought about it and it IS NOT HIS PLACE TO HAVE TO DO THAT. I apologize for that. However I do ask that EVERYONE know these rules and ABIDE by them FAIRLY. If someone has done something to you then by all means report it.But dont do it with an agenda and make sure you are RIGHT and report the facts only and not what you THINK happened. In other words dont accuse people of things unless you are 100% sure this is the case.Things like I know you misgrade on purpose. You did this to so and so, so you have to be a thief cause it happened to me and so on are not FACTS. Things happen and things are not always what they appear to be.

Thank you

Al

There are 2 VERY important rules concerning posts made to the MoPo List:1)  Personal attacks of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes name-calling, innuendo, insults or gossip.
2)  Off-topic posts are not permitted. There are ample places on the Internet to discuss politics, religion, sex or any other issue. Posts to MoPo should be related to movies, movie memorabilia, and the people who collect it.

Persons who disregard these rules will be removed from list membership immediately and without notice. However on the first infraction, individuals will be permitted to resubscribe if they wish to rejoin the group and agree to abide by the posting rules. Upon a second infraction, removal from the list membership will be permanent. Determination of a rule violation and subsequent removal from the mailing list is the sole responsibility of the MoPo List Owner.
