I take exception with the idea that Quentin Tarantino is a
"great" director. Talented and interesting, sure. Flashy and
gimmicky and trendy-for-his-slacker-background to be sure.
But a great director? No.
Oh, and according to IMDB, Tarantino has made
significantly fewer than 18 films:

And of those 13 directorial efforts, two have yet to come out,
one he only directed a bit of (Sin City), one he only directed
a section of (Four Rooms), and three were TV episodes.
One of things Tarantino is noted for in Hollywood is for
having a big reputation -- and very loud opinions -- without
actually having directed very much.
