Not sure I find that particularly annoying. You can just say No and both of
you can then just move on.

The only time I've been annoyed by people asking for discounts was back in
the days when I used to haunt church rummage sales and I'd overhear certain
pickers and dealers badgering elderly volunteers into letting them have a
25-cent book for 10 cents or something. A book which they would probably
then turn around and flip for X amount of dollars, by the way.

But in this specific case, no, not especially annoying.
