You can copy the descriptions into Word, use Word's Replace, then copy and paste the column back into Excel. In Excel 2000 there are peculiar complications involving the text that can be kind of tricky, but that are solvable (when you import the descriptions column as text, and then have to re-copy the column to get rid of a weird text-compression thing that Excel 2000 does). Before I figured out the tricks, I'd separately export the descriptions, open them in Notepad, copy and paste them to Word, then copy and paste them to Excel. Such fun! It was even more fun when I had to re-do all of the descriptions for my free-standing store - without macros it would have been close to starting over again from scratch on thousands of listings.

It becomes problematic in EXCEL if the text is too big for the Search and Replace feature in which case you'll need a progran that can do a bulk change. Either way, you should be able to get all of your descriptions in a single file, import them into Excel or some other program, just a simple find and replace unless you use unique language in each and every listing (that would be an accomplishment!), then upload the new versions. Hope I'm not speaking too soon and that eBay hasn't come up with some weird hoops to leap through...
