Thanks, Bruce. You're one of the few people on this list that has
tolerance for just about any collecting interest. If more folks like
you participated in the discussions, more folks like me would also
participate I think.
I collect mostly modern and hypermodern posters for movies that would
obviously be shunned by the majority of those on this list. While I
respect anyone for the right to express their opinion on any subject,
I find that most on the list are intolerant of other's opinions. That
leads, of course, to the many fights that seem to break out. For me,
MOPO is basically a spectator sport.
But, there is a germ of usefulness that warrants my sifting through
the posts on a daily basis.
Here's an opinion for all of you to chew on: the modern world does
not belong to us. It belongs to the generation coming up behind us.
When you ask "why are there no young collectors at cinevent" or some
such, it's because you have lost touch with the modern world. Through
my two teenage children, I'm able to keep up by paying attention to
what they think is cool, is "in" and what they think looks or sounds
beautiful. It forges a great relationship between us, and I find more
interesting their view of the world versus the view of a few cronies
that are self-absorbed in their own collecting to such an extent that
they would sweep aside movie making over the past 40 years as
basically irrelevant.
If you care to look, you can see what interests me:

I am sure we all notice that around 20 or 30 people regularly post
to MoPo, and yet there are apparently hundreds of other members who
receive these e-mails, yet never post at all!
I thought it would be nice to give these people a chance to come out
of the shadows (so to speak), if only for a single post, to explain
why they never post, and to see what it is about MoPo that makes
them want to stay members, even though they never contribute. Now of
course we know that the dealers who solely post for sale or for
auction posts are here for the free advertising, but how about the
rest of you?
Who'll go first?
