These size poster only came in ONE style in the 1930's, I have yet to find one from that time period with 2 styles. However Meloy Borthers did create multiple styles (Up to 4 different styles) but never designated any letter to differentiate them and they were NOT studion issue posters. In 1939 is the first time I found 2 styles for the 40x60 which was for "Gone with the Wind." Into the 40's 50's and 60's most 30x40's and 40x60's had 2 styles available, but here again there are exceptions. The Omen posters I think you are referring to is the Advance 40x60 which is the A and B style, after the Advance screening they issued another 40x60 that talked about the intense nature of the film. Very confusing!!! In other words, the letters were on the order forms and indicated specific poster sizes and some of the pressbooks in my collection had those letter designations under the poster images I have never seen a 40x60 described an an A (and I'm not talking about differentiation in styles in similar sizes) LAMP probably has more info Rich At 11:40 AM 2/24/2010, Michael B wrote: but that poster said "1A" i dont think there was a "B"------so why did the studio write "A" ? mbb -----Original Message----- From: Richard Halegua Comic Art <sa...@comic-art.com> To: MoPo-L@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU Sent: Wed, Feb 24, 2010 2:33 pm Subject: Re: [MOPO] STYLE 1A in my experience, the A has always been a reference to a one sheet size At 09:17 AM 2/24/2010, Michael B wrote: The letters A or B appear on posters to indicate the STYLE of the poster when there were differentstyles . (Even C and D when there were 4 styles.) But, when there was only one style, would the studio have stated 1A ? By way of example, below is the link of one of bruce's current auction titles. I own this style and was not aware that there were other one sheet styles.....but the posters state 1A. Was there another style, or did the studiio list it as A when they only had one style? http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?function=detail&Auction_uid1=1720680 michael Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: lists...@listserv.american.edu In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: lists...@listserv.american.edu In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
