Greg,

If you sold this through ebay, you should use their Global Shipping Program
which you would have to check the box when doing your listing.

It's more expensive for the buyer but you're only responsible for shipping the
item to a central location in Kentucky or somewhere like that. From that point
on, you're not responsible for the item getting to it's destination.

It sounds like you shipped this to the buyer directly, so unfortunately, you're
responsible as far as I know. Hopefully, it will still show up.

I've had buyers in Europe contact me asking to sell directly but every time
I've removed the Global Shipping Program, it usually turns into a major
headache, like what you're experiencing now.

Do yourself a favor to save yourself a lot of grief. Next time you list on
ebay, check that small box for their Global Shipping Program.

Good luck my friend.

Todd

Subject: [MOPO] Question About Lost items

Hey guys,
I have a situation where I shipped a buyer in France two 20 X 30" stills from
RETURN OF THE JEDI on March 18. This guy is going out of his mind because they
haven't arrived, despite the fact that I sent him a scan of the original
receipt from the customs form with the tracking number, date, and amount paid.
He somehow found that the items made it as far as Paris.
Tracking numbers apparently do not work in France at this time, and I know that
some items are taking a long time to reach their destinations due to security
concerns in that country. (Although I sent an item to another buyer in France
last week, which he received quickly and painlessly.) The USPS has no answers
for me.
Question: is there any kind of coverage for this kind of situation through
either Paypal or Ebay? I think I'm sunk as far as the post office goes, but I'm
hoping that some of the more experienced sellers on this group can give me
ideas. I'm having trouble convincing this guy that I'm not part of some
anti-France conspiracy with the US Postal Service. I'm starting to get an idea
of how this guy's mind works, and I know he's going to file a complaint with
Ebay, which is the last thing I want.
Any ideas?
Best,
Greg Douglass
PS-I stopped selling on Ebay awhile back. NOW I remember why......
