I still watch Leave it to Beaver every morning as I get ready for work. They show two episodes early here in our area.....I watched it originally as a kid from 1957 to 1963. When I was about 12 I had a paper route with my best friend in Santa Monica. When I use to go around once a month to collect for the paper, I noticed on the door of one client that the name sounded familiar to me as I recognized it in the credits of the show. I was the geek kid that memorized credits on tv shows and films. One time I got up the nerve to ask him if he was a writer for the show and he said yes. Of course, now I can't remember who it was, but I think it was either Joe Connelly or Bob Mosher. I'm gettin' old too!
One day about 15 years ago a man walked into my framing gallery in L.A. with some items to frame. He looked familiar to me but I couldn't place him until I was writing up the invoice and he said his name was Frank Bank. There was Lumpy Rutherford right there in my shop. He became a good customer over a few years and a really nice man. He passed away in 2013. Sad to hear the news of Tony Dow.....he was such a cutie on the show!!
