Hi Horse and Gerhard,

Two quick points:

1) To Horse, 
Actually, California power is another example of excessive wacky regulation 
and half hearted deregulation.

2) To Gerhard,

Actually my political and economic beliefs were derived (and continue to be 
derived) from intellectual endeaver such as this as well as hands on 
participation in state run and freely run enterprise.  I have lots of 
experience in or with both.
