Marlijn,
Thanks for your nice response.
I used your instructions and did open 3D viewer, but when I selected surface...smooth, I got a "Runtime Error.9 .out of range". I checked my data, and there are no polygons the number of which is outside my total dataset, so it may be the way I designed my polygons.
According to the Morphologika manual, you can make the polygons clockwise or anticlockwise, the direction determining whether the polygon faces out or in. Thus, for example, if a right sided polygon on the face starting at the midline were 1 2 4, on the left it might be 1 2 5, with the 1 & 2 along the midsagittal line. Am I wrong? If I am getting landmarks from a skull, all having a starting point on the midline(sagittal), should they ALL be one direction?
Thanks,
Don

Dear Dr. Lewis,

Regarding your second question on polygons:

Within morphologika, upload your data, run the GPA and then activate
the 3D viewer by clicking on this window. A new option will show up in
the top toolbar, 'Rendering'. Clicking on this will show you three
option to view your data: points, wireframe or surface (=polygons).

If you cannot choose the option surface within this menu, it probably
means there is something wrong with how you defined the polygons. Make
sure the polygons are all described either in clock-wise or all
described in anti-clockwise direction. Input of polygons is similar to
that of wireframes, numbers with spaces in between:

[polygons]
1 2 3
3 4 5
6 9 8
etc

Also, make sure you do not include any landmark numbers in your
polygons that you do not include in your final morphologika analysis.
Deselecting certain landmarks within the Morphologika program will not
automatically also delete the polygons (or wireframe lines) that
involve the deleted landmarks.

Good luck!

All best,

Marlijn

Subject: Morphologika question from a new guy
To: [email protected]

All,

Two vexing questions:

1. I have a group of 27 landmarks for the base of a given skull land a
group of 40 landmarks for the top. How do I combine these in
Morphologika to render the entire skull? Currently they are in
separate Notepad text files. There ARE four points common to each
group, but the specimen was turned over for measurement purposes.

2.POLYGONS: I have used the command line [polygons] and denoted the
three landmarks to be linked, but cannot figure out how to get
anything but points on the display. No wireframe, no polygon, just
points.

Thanks for any help.

Don
