Hi all, My sixth grade teaching partner and I will be teaching together next year in open space (two sixth grades of about 38 kids). I will lead Language Arts instruction while she will lead Math. I'm really excited and a bit nervous too! LOL I want to use reading and writing workshop with these students. I have done both in prior years with some success but had issues with scheduling workshop consistently due to 1) constant sixth grade pull-outs and 2) the fact that the required curriculum is an anthology with embedded spelling and grammar. I'd like to know from those of you who team teach: How do workshops work with such a large group of kids? Also--from those of you required to use an anthology--how do you meet the requirements of the adopted curriculum while also integrating authentic literature? I'd love any specifics on the actual time spent teaching anthology versus using workshop format. Sample schedules would be great. I'd appreciate responses on just about any related topic. Thanks in advance!!!! Kelly W Grade 6/CT
