Try Pink and Say by Patricia Pollocco.

It might fit into your social studies curriculum as well.

Subject: [MOSAIC] Developing character with Venn Diagrams

Hello All,
I am looking for a good read aloud for sixth graders so they can compare and
contrast 2 characters using a venn diagram (2 or 3 circles) and then develop
one
character using the vocabulary from the text.
I eventually want to do this with The Cay by Theodore Taylor, but I want to
model how it is done with a read aloud first. If anyone has any suggestions, I
would appreciate any and all thoughts.
Thanks so much,
