I wholeheartedly agree! Portfolios! A fantastic collection of the children's
work which will give you an excellent idea of how they are doing and what
kind of grade to assign, (something we,unfortunately, have to do.)

Subject: [MOSAIC] Question...formative and summative in second grade?
Hello,
We are having a debate at work and I need help from those that know more
than me, which is everyone on this list.
My colleagues and I were discussing summatives and how second graders
shouldn't have any summatives, but a lot of formatives that address
different skills.
My question is if this is true, then where do you get a grade from,
especially if you don't have standardized tests?
Any help will be very beneficial.
Thanks
LIz
