We have done our own version of Battle of the Books to promote reading.
They only have to have their parents or an adult sign that they have read
2 of the 10 books to get in the events: scavenger hunt (items from the
books), character dress-up day with a runway assembly, door decorating
contests, movie(book) trailer oscar-winning event, and finally
participation in classroom, grade level and grand Battle championships
(rounds of 10 questions from the books posed to teams of 3).
