While on a lunch break today, I walked to Canal Park and scanned the bay in
search of waterfowl. It was a surprisingly-quiet time to be out, in terms
of raptors. One adult Bald Eagle was observed migrating overhead. The
highlight from today was finding a (first of the year) Pied-billed Grebe
way out over the open water. With many of the inland lakes still frozen up,
the arrival of loons and grebes is concerning. Sounds like there is more
snow on the way... these birds can't seem to catch a break with migratory
conditions this spring! In case you'd like to see the Pied-billed Grebe
