I deleted the profile that I was working with and deleted all of the files. I then created a new profile. I then copied the MAIL folder from the backup copy to the new profile. Started up NS 6.2 and still have no mail. By the way there were no *.msf files.

Mail was completely re-written after 6.0, but the folders are 
still the same for me.

Try this: 
COMPLETELY close Netscap6/Mozilla
DELETE all the summary files ("*.msf")
Copy the complete directory structure in the the N6 Mail folder.
Make sure that the files are not set to "read only"

Start Netscape and report back with results.
