Hi,
This is one of my wish list items.
Here is what happens: I am surfing at a web site and all of a sudden an
"adult" site takes over Mozilla. closing the window generates a new one.
This seems to be a new way of attracting business to "adult" web sites.
Also when searching web content using a search engine, I will click on a
link that appeared to be on the topic I searched (not adult content)
only to be transferred to an off topic web site were closing the window
spawns multiple (and often disgusting) 'adult xxx web pages that can not
be removed without creating a new window. These process of creating new
windows when the previous window is closed I have heard called
wack-a-mole in reference to the wack-a-mole game at the midway or arcade
where you hit moles with a mallet as they pop up.
Is there any project currently underway to deal with wack-a-mole? I
would love to have a dialogue box pop up when wack-a-mole is begun
providing me with the option cancel the entire process. I would not want
to kill all wack-a-moles as pop up windows of this fashion can serve a
useful purpose sometimes. In the case of Adult sites these pop up
windows are extremely annoying and there could be some way of canceling
the process in Mozilla.
I would file a bug on this, but I do not know which component of Mozilla
is involved.
