What amazes me is not that Netscape had fired developpers. That's enterprise life.
But that employees @mozilla.org had been fired.
Mozilla does not seem to have any independent financial support.
And I would be interested if s.o. could confirm or infirm that all the 
mozilla.org stuff is paid by Netscape.
