I was reading the documentation on mpz_probab_prime_p. At the bottom of the documentation of this function it says "This function is obsolete. It will disappear from future MPIR releases." I have not seen the same in the GMP documentation for this function. Does this mean that in the future I can expect GMP and MPIR to be incompatable? Might I suggest that this would be unfortunate. What I am currently working on is an interface from the computer language Eiffel to GMP, MPFR and MPC. I am using MPIR because I am working from Windows 7 and was able to use MPIR to build a library using Visual Studio 2008 on a 64-bit machine. I am hoping that the Eiffel code that I write would continue to be compatible with GMP. I'm not certain that I can achieve this but I am also hoping that it will be compatible across operating systems like Windows and UNIX like systems.
