After reading this article, I wonder what is being done about the fair
number of vacant lots and apparently abandoned homes in north
Minneapolis (south of Dowling, in particular). To my eyes, I see a lot
of empty lots, burned out or vacant homes. I do not have any exact
numbers, but it seems to me that filling the empty lots and renovating
or replacing the empty/burned out houses could help address the
shortage of affordable housing.
I know that the MCDA owns a number of empty lots, but I also know that
they are frequently selling lots for development. But what of the
other lots? Does it take a long time for a vacant lot to be filled?
