Yes, in downtown Minneapolis, even with a lackluster economy, we seem to be

Nice to see that things seem to be going so well Downtown- a few weeks ago I had no trouble finding on street parking right next to block E on a Saturday.

the Skyway system and light rail to facilitate getting around, year

You might want to ride that light rail system real quick because it may not last- one of my fondest memories is riding the streetcars just before they paved over the tracks.

And reduced hours and possible closings of our libraries here in the 'hood.

That most of us who work here can't afford.

the Mill City Museum and Mill Ruins Park areas,

Assuming the Historical Society has the money to staff and maintain them, the graffitti "artists" and gangbangers are already marking that turf.

the new Guthrie

Which will get 15 million of our tax dollars to build even fancier digs, as if their current historic theatre isn't upmarket enough. That's $15,000,000 that would have been better spent keeping our libraries open and bringing our high school graduation rate above 50%. To add insult to injury, I can't afford to go to the Guthrie on my union wages, but I could afford a much cheaper bleacher seat at a Twin's game. That said, the Twins are owned by a billionaire, so neither the Guthrie nor Twins deserve public subsidies.

, and much more. Across the river, added residential and
commercial redevelopment moves up East Hennepin and Central. More people
are moving downtown, living downtown and spending money downtown. Just wait
'till the economy turns around, then it will really get interesting!

And in the 'hood, but a mile or so from said subsidy rich downtown, we've had four citizens murdered in the last week. Here on the Northside our jobs are disappearing, our libraries are threatened, and our city is over a hundred police officers understaffed.
