Thanks for your suggestions!  It is best to use the forums on musescore.org
for this sort of thing.  BTW, if I am understanding correctly, the "R"
command already does what you want for 2).  I'm not sure what you mean by
3), make sure you haven't accidentally turned off the "Pan score
automatically" button on the toolbar.  Again, for further discussion,
though, please use the forum.
