Now use the full unicode range (BMP and above), and search for code points above BMP. Then modify the test to _correctly handle surrogates_ and BE or LE UTF-16. Then you should have equal functionality to UTF-8 implementations. Then test to see how it performs against UTF-8. Like I said, the current test is flawed.
