Err, _should_ it? Shouldn't the guy in front of the screen know better?
Or cannot even a programmer be held knowledgeable enough to decide which
number to type after the editor already wrote the type base name for him?

BTW, _I_ usually disable such a mechanism, as by now, I'm able to type fast
enough not to be slowed down thereby. Thinking _what_ to type takes most of
the time, and I think it should.
