You've been around here long enough and read the discussions, so I won't
patronise you by telling you that MSVC7.x does native code as well as .Net
code.

I struggled to begin with, but the interface really is much better. The
compiler is stricter, the compile times (in most cases are a little faster)
and the optimiser is better. I'd try it and stick with it if I were you.
