Fair enough. And I'd make a patch, but I don't know:

1. How to get plink to tell git that the host key wasn't found with
- -batch mode on

2. How to get git to pipe stdin to plink during interactive mode (i.e.
w/o -batch)

3. Where it would be appropriate to add an error message to tell users
when it failed.

My apologies; otherwise I would fix it.
