What happens if you send an IFD an IFDHcontrol() request that it doesn't
understand? Is it supposed to fail gracefully, or do IFDs tend to
just start scribbling on random memory and then cause pcscd to dump
core ;-)?


The driver should return IFD_COMMUNICATION_ERROR as documented in [1]
but it may also do anything else. I imagine you have the driver source
code to correct any "deviant" behavior?

Well, yes, I suppose that it was more of a rhetorical question.
