I understood your position, but not agree with it. If I meet corrupted tags one time in a year it is acceptable to correct them. But if I meet them all time it is not good solution.
Some times I can not convert files: I have read-only access or bittorrent program use them. If some software players don`t impress you, my next argument is my hardware mp3 player created by cowon (and many others created by other firms). It understand this "corrupted" tags and work with them pretty good. So besides standarts on paper exists standarts de facto. I think this is standart de facto. PS Sorry for broken thread line.
