Yes. For instance, there are far more people who would be impacted by a forgery. There are also far more people who would benefit from exposure to cryptographic signatures. Also, there's a longer distribution channel, and thus more opportunities for forgery. So, you're right; there's MORE reason to sign in lists than in private mail. Thanks for the correction.
