Ah!  The light finally shines...  Thanks for the clarification.  I now
see that even though the new region is initially empty I can move forward
and back in my list of windows, even bringing up the same window as I
have in the region above.  Cool.

Wow but that looks crowded, even on a 50-line terminal.  I can't imagine
splitting the region if I were running a 24-line terminal :-)
