If, as you do, you just need access to the repo you don't normally need an account; the usual VCS clone operations will do just fine, or you can download the diff directly through the web interface.

Also, the mutt-dev mailing list is still very much open for patch-oriented submission and review. You can clone the repos from gitlab, the github mirror, and sr.ht <https://git.sr.ht/~kevin8t8/mutt>. The github and sr.hr mirrors currently only have the master and stable branches though.
