Yes and no. I like a bit of restraint. But it's good if the reasons are made apparent to the user. Example, on MacOS apps actually need to go through the OS access control if they try to access the Desktop folder. But at least I get an OS mediated popup saying "App X wants to access your Desktop folder". A bit ad hoc, but as a shared multipurpose area it is probaby a good thing.

It sounds like snap apps maybe run in a somewhat constrained container?

I've got $TMPDIR set to ~/tmp, so i probably haven't been bitten by this Firefox check, and I am a Firefox user.
