Well, see the question I thought was a book for beginners.... "too
basic" is fine for beginners and I think the strength of Chuck's book is
in the explanations of the topics (Compare for instance, Chuck's
explanation of how to do localization and compare it with Ted's). You
mentioned as a "desktop reference manual" and I would totally agree
there- I think Ted's book covers more and is better for that purpose.
The O'Reilly book seemed to explain more of the concepts which is very
helpful to someone brand new to Struts. So in my opinion it did not pale
at all in comparison- it simply is a matter of intended audience and
how you plan to use the book.
