This stems from how I prefer to listen to my music collection; I simply run xmms in shuffle repeat with a large (~3000 item) playlist. I rarely, if ever, interact with it. About the only operations that I do require are mute (turn the amplifier off) and "skip track". My interest in mvpmc, and indeed, the MediaMVP was to provide an actually silent (not merely quiet) device for my loungeroom and, noting its CIFS/NFS support, my assumption was that it could be left playing off my existing NAS device (the Asus WL-HDD is a very small, very quiet device which is essentially a notebook harddrive in a box with wired and wifi interfaces, installed elsewhere in my apartment). I really don't want to have to run an additional PC to support the MediaMVP and I rather not risk destabilising the WL-HDD. If slim-server really can be made to run on it then, well, maybe.
