I've been running dongle.bin.mvpmc-20060924-2.4.31 with my H2 and, as advertised, it boots flawlessly. Thanks much for this work!

For my own curiosity, could you tell us what you did to make it work?

Also, I was one of those that had severe stuttering with the 2.4 kernel. However, when I decreased the NFS read and write buffers (can't see how the write buffer is relevant, but changed it anyway for the sake of consistency) from 4K to 2K the stuttering disappeared. I use NFS to view mythtv recordings and also MPEGs converted from AVIs. As an apparent beneficial side effect of decreasing the buffer sizes, viewed shows seem to get out of sync less often (in fact, haven't had this happen since). Don't know if this information helps anyone else, but thought I'd pass it along.

Dave,

If you have an H2, the latest build using the new linux kernel (2.4.31) will allow you to boot flawlessly without using the incantation I posted for H2s which make itself into the Wiki. You can download the latest nightly build from:

http://www.mvpmc.org/builds/

make sure you download a version that ends in -2.4.31 that way you'll pick up the latest kernel.
Please keep in mind that this is a development build so some things may be unstable though stability has drastically improved in the last month or so. I've had mixed reports about this version working on mythtv 0.2.0 but only about the live tv functionality. Give it a try and let me kow if

  • it boot cleanly,
  • it works with mythtv 0.2.0.

If you can't get mythtv-0.2.0 to work, capture traces from both your backend and mvpmc and post them here so I can point you in the right direction.

Cheers...

Sergio
