Just curious, why MythTV users need to sync the time with the server? For me to be able to connect with ReplayTV I have to sync to time  within 40 seconds to be able to connect to it. Is there any benefits on doing this beside getting the correct time?

Unreliable? RDATE is a crapshoot of the worst type...

The only other choice is to use ntpclient. I use:
ntpclient -s -h pool.ntp.org

It's much more reliable... really...
