Have you confirmed that this behavior only happens when you are using 
mvpmc as the client and not when you are using myth-frontend?

I would expect this to be behavior that is beyond the control of the client.

No, but then I rarely use the live TV feature.

Or maybe found a MythTV bug. Either that or mvpmc is doing something 
wrong when talking to the back-end.
