It won't do bridge or repeater out of the box, the only linksys unit I know 
that can do the latter is the WTR54GS (note that IS wTr, not wRt, it's a 
travel router)

Yes running DD-WRT or one of the other OpenWRT distro's

Dunno, never used ad hoc, from what I remember ad hoc doesn't offer much 
security.... however with that said, the fortinet router allows 4 separate 
ssid's/wlan's so I _could_ put it on it's own wlan.
