Same kind of tuner in both backends?
And are they both using the same profiles?
If one of your backends/tuners is putting the audio on a non-mp3
format you won't get audio.
Using something like mplayer will tell you when it goes to play the
file what format the audio/video is in.
If this is the case, change the profile and/or transcode the video and
audio to something that the mvpmc can play properly, there is a script
called makempeg2 that will take care of reformatting stuff into a
mvpmc compatible format, though it does take some time depending on
how fast of a cpu that you have.
