No, I don't believe anyone here has considered developing a tivo like client. Actually, I don't recall any such open source project. Anyone else know different? The encoding for a replaytv is based on time of day and my first recollection of it being understood was in DVArchive (which, I think is still free for the asking, but not an open source project). I have no idea what if any encryption is used by tivo devices. I understand your concerns regarding monthly replaytv subscription. I came upon my present life time subscription through a series of unlikely events. So I am more likely to keep using my replaytv w/an ATSC tuner. If I were you, I would build a mythtv box (for about $250 - $300) and try it out on your SO & others. Mean while keep your replaytv at least till the switch this summer to fall back on. And, I really hope Chase's mythtv proxy works out. That would most likely mean a smooth experience using the mvpmc box with a mythtv backend recording HDTV. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Source Business Conference (OSBC), March 24-25, 2009, San Francisco, CA -OSBC tackles the biggest issue in open source: Open Sourcing the Enterprise -Strategies to boost innovation and cut costs with open source participation -Receive a $600 discount off the registration fee with the source code: SFAD http://p.sf.net/sfu/XcvMzF8H _______________________________________________ Mvpmc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mvpmc-users mvpmc wiki: http://mvpmc.wikispaces.com/
