Transcoding to SD doesn't meet the requirement of ATSC playback "in all its high definition video and audio glory." > Currently, Chase, an iPhone developer, is designing a mythtv proxy to > automate this. As great as that development is, it's still a stop-gap measure for a presumably diminishing audience, as far as MVP hardware is concerned. Eventually even us holdouts will upgrade to HDTV displays and want a set-top-box that can keep up. > If that ever happens I believe the intent is to copy the mvpmc efforts > & features to the PCH / NMT. How about porting the ReplayTV client to run as a MythTV front-end plugin? > For now, if you really need HDTV / H.264 I would build a small mythtv > front end. I'd look around for a nettop with NVIDIA video hardware that works with the H.264 accelerated decoding drivers (if I'm remembering what I read correctly) and build a full MythTV front-end. Although I don't have any HDTV requirements yet, I'm starting to grown envious of a full MythTV front-end. Between the MVP and the DivX DVD player I have - both of which are very finicky about what video they'll play back - I'm getting real tired of transcoding, especially when it fails to work. -Tom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Source Business Conference (OSBC), March 24-25, 2009, San Francisco, CA -OSBC tackles the biggest issue in open source: Open Sourcing the Enterprise -Strategies to boost innovation and cut costs with open source participation -Receive a $600 discount off the registration fee with the source code: SFAD http://p.sf.net/sfu/XcvMzF8H _______________________________________________ Mvpmc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mvpmc-users mvpmc wiki: http://mvpmc.wikispaces.com/
