Here are the results of my inquiry although I don't know much about what I
see.

[r...@mythbox mythtv]# cat /proc/mdstat
cat: /proc/mdstat: No such file or directory
[r...@mythbox mythtv]# lsmod | grep raid
dm_raid4_5 72592 1
dm_region_hash 16384 1 dm_raid4_5
dm_mem_cache 8704 1 dm_raid4_5
dm_message 6144 1 dm_raid4_5
dm_log 14468 4 dm_raid4_5,dm_region_hash,dm_mirror
dm_mod 72888 23
dm_raid4_5,dm_snapshot,dm_zero,dm_mirror,dm_log

What is interesting is that after my full synchronization in the Nvidia
Mediashield software in Windows, all my grief seems to be over. I have
just finished watching about 3-4 hours of recordings while my main
frontend / backend machine was left on live tv for kicks. NO STUTTERING!

I guess more testing will tell the ultimate truth, but this is the best
info in a long time. What will need confirmation is if this is a one time
requirement because of the partition that I resized on the fly or if I
need to do this from time to time from now on.

Thanks everyone for putting up with my long winded info.

Tom thank you for the tip in the right direction. When you mentioned your
system's need to rebuild the array from time to time I started to wonder.

Scott
