Next to DRM, Flash must be the single biggest obstacle slowing down the widespread adoption of streaming video directly to set-top-boxes. If a standard video codec was used, we probably would have seen this functionality in cheap set-top-boxes a year or more ago. Instead we're just now starting to see Flash playback happening in embedded devices. Thanks Adobe.
