One thing that has killed the low priced MVP alternatives is the lack
of developer interested in building a client on the Popcorn Hour
family.  I did drum up interest from the manufacturer Syabas only to
have fall flat here.   They make sub $150 devices that would have been
perfect now (HD PVR and HD mpeg-ts support is excellent), but with no
support I am not going to bother pursuing as Syabas move on to their
next gen machines.

I am actually communicating with one Realtek vendor, but I am assuming
that mvpmc developers are no longer interested in continuing on the
embedded market.
