One thing that has killed the low priced MVP alternatives is the lack of developer interested in building a client on the Popcorn Hour family. I did drum up interest from the manufacturer Syabas only to have fall flat here. They make sub $150 devices that would have been perfect now (HD PVR and HD mpeg-ts support is excellent), but with no support I am not going to bother pursuing as Syabas move on to their next gen machines. I am actually communicating with one Realtek vendor, but I am assuming that mvpmc developers are no longer interested in continuing on the embedded market.
