Hi,

I've a question about a set-top-box chip & the current thinking
regarding really light weight mythtv front ends.

In the past, there have been several attempts to create a mythtv front
end based on application specific chips. But, usually, the chip OEMs
are so tight lipped about their products these efforts are only somewhat
successful. SigmaDesign for example.

But someone elsewhere was asking about a set-top-box which was based on
STMicro's STi7105. Surprisingly (to me anyhow) it would appear that on
the STMicro web site there exists more then the average amount of
information:

Yes, if you poke around, missing are the data sheets and technical
notes. But what you get, I think, is way more then you might get from
SigmaDesign.

So, in the end, what is the current state of things? Are people just
saying "Bhaa, I've had it w/this chips, I'll just use a MicroAT mobo
instead.". Or are people still longing after a really small mythtv
settop box?

-thanks
